Dongfeng Town of Zhongshan sits at the northern gateway of Zhongshan, located within the home appliance industrial corridor of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. In the early 1980s, local family workshops began manufacturing transformers and voltage stabilizers. Dianxing Electric, Lisheng Electric and Hetai Machinery were among the earliest manufacturers. From the mid-to-late 1990s, complete appliance makers of fans, disinfection cabinets and range hoods settled here sequentially. Supporting hardware and electronic suppliers matured alongside, forming a complete small home appliance industrial chain.

This industrial cluster boasts massive industrial capacity. By the end of 2025, Dongfeng had 39,405 registered market entities, including 13,143 industrial operators and roughly 9,500 home appliance-related enterprises. The town hosts 364 industrial enterprises above designated size, 75 enterprises with annual output exceeding 100 million RMB, and 208 high-tech firms. Small home appliances and supporting industries contribute more than 80% of the town’s total economic output. It has developed into a 10-billion-yuan industrial cluster led by Midea Environmental Appliances, Hesheng Group, Enaiter and Huamei Junda. In H1 2026, export volume hit 4.052 billion RMB with a year-on-year growth of 11.2%. Its products are sold to 110+ countries across five continents.

Electric fans are Dongfeng’s flagship product, and Dongfeng ranks among the world’s largest fan manufacturing bases. Midea Environmental Appliances settled in Dongfeng in 2003. Its Zhongshan campus covers 500 mu with 220,000 ㎡ workshops. The annual capacity includes 30 million electric fans, 5 million ventilators, 3 million air purifiers, 6 million heaters and 4 million vacuum cleaners, making it one of the world’s top production platforms for environmental appliances. Ahead of the northern hemisphere summer sales season, large volumes of standing fans, tower fans, air circulators and cooling fans are shipped out from Dongfeng for market restocking.

Kitchen appliances form another core pillar of Dongfeng’s industry. Enaiter set up its factory in Dongfeng in 2002 and was formally registered in 2006. The company can produce 1 million rice cookers monthly, with annual sales over 2 billion RMB and more than 1,100 patents. Back in 2013, it became the world’s second-largest maker of smart rice cookers. In 2024, its rice cookers and air fryers ranked high among China’s export products; air fryer exports surged by approximately 60%. Once its Thailand factory reaches full operation, annual output will exceed 30 million units. In July the same year, the brand opened its Amazon store in North America. For induction cookers, Javis is an established manufacturer evolved from a component supplier founded in 1998. Dongfeng is also a vital production hub for gas appliances in China. Founded in 1982, Hesheng Kitchen Appliance owns five factories and a 20,000 ㎡ digital production line with 450 patents. It produces 5 million burner assemblies annually and provides customized one-stop solutions for global kitchen appliance brands. Gemqi’s storage water heaters rank top 3 in China by export volume. Some overseas partnerships have lasted for 22 years, and its team possesses deep expertise in regional water quality standards and certification requirements.

Dongfeng is home to multiple hidden champions specializing in core components. Kaipu Electrical has focused on residual current protection devices for 23 years, holding over 100 patents and capturing more than 50% share of the US market. Huamei Junda relocated from Shunde to Dongfeng in 2006 and is one of the early developers of gas igniters and control boards, the “brain” of small home appliances. Xiangji Electrical runs a 60,000 ㎡ factory with an annual capacity of 7 million sets, supplying renowned brands including Midea, Haier and Rinnai. Boen Electrical focuses on coffee machines, stand mixers and air fryer ovens. Its new factory launched at the end of 2025 can output 500,000 units monthly. Established in 1993, Autoleader generates 900 million RMB annual revenue from automotive electronic products. From power cords, injection parts and metal stamping parts to heating elements and control boards, the local supply chain covers the full spectrum from basic components to intelligent finished goods.

Professional testing services are available locally within the town. Zhongshan launched its third “Industrial Product Hospital” service station in Dongfeng, equipped to conduct safety, EMC, electronic, material reliability and failure analysis tests for small appliances, lamps and chemical materials. A provincial-level intelligent kitchen appliance inspection station operated by Zhongshan Institute of Metrology and Quality Supervision is also on site. As a quality benchmark among leading firms, Enaiter obtained China’s first Chief Quality Officer management system certification in 2025. Local OEM and ODM factories generally hold CB, CE, GS, ETL, KC, PSE, LFGB, FDA, RoHS and other target-market certificates with complete audit and compliance documentation.

For overseas buyers, Dongfeng’s biggest advantage is one-stop sourcing for the full range of small home appliances. Fans, rice cookers, induction cookers, air fryers, gas stoves, water heaters, coffee machines, stand mixers, plus safety accessories such as leakage protectors and power cords, can be sampled, sourced, inspected and shipped locally. Both trial orders of several thousand units and large repeat bulk orders are acceptable. OEM / ODM customization covers voltage, plugs, energy labels, panel language, color boxes and user manuals. Private label co-development is also supported. Sourcing tips: verify destination-market certifications, RoHS & REACH material compliance, BSCI or Sedex audits in advance. Due to low unit value and relatively high freight cost for small appliances, consolidated LCL shipments or overseas warehousing are recommended. Complete pre-production sampling is required; terms for safety lifespan testing and after-sales spare parts should be clearly stated in purchase contracts.
