Lecong Town lies in Shunde District, Foshan, Guangdong, at the junction of Guangzhou and Foshan in the heart of the Pearl River Delta, about 30 minutes from downtown Guangzhou. It is one of the world’s largest furniture trading and exhibition hubs. Lecong’s furniture story began in the 1980s. With no forests or established furniture industry locally, early entrepreneurs hauled timber from other regions and built pine-shed workshops over roadside fish ponds, making simple furniture and selling it front-shop-back-factory to passing traders. These sheds gradually grew into a furniture corridor stretching over ten li. In March 2004, the China National Light Industry Council and China Furniture Association awarded Lecong the title “China Furniture Trading Capital”; on 16 November 2018, it received the title “China Home Furnishing Trading & Innovation Capital”, the first regional brand awarded by the China National Light Industry Council with an “innovation” element.

By early 2026, Lecong had more than 180 furniture malls with 3.5 million ㎡ of operating space, over 10,000 domestic and overseas distributors and more than 3,000 furniture manufacturers, offering over 50,000 mid-to-high-end furniture products and facilitating about 80 billion RMB in annual transactions, with products sold to more than 100 countries and regions. More than 20,000 customers enter the malls daily, nearly 1,000 overseas buyers are permanently based here, and annual overseas buyer visits approach 50,000; in 2024 the town received nearly 10 million visits, with resident foreign nationals growing by over 50%.
Lecong does not sell a single category — it sells a whole “home”. Residential furniture covers sofas, soft beds, panel furniture, solid wood and rosewood; project furniture covers hotel, office and outdoor pieces; soft furnishing covers lighting, carpets, wall art and accessories; and in recent years the town has expanded into full-case design, whole-home delivery and smart home. The town’s approach is to link “furniture + appliances + home decoration + design” so buyers can view living room, dining room, bedroom and commercial spaces in one trip.
Among leading firms, the Louvre Home Furnishing Group started in 2000. Its International Home Furnishing Expo Center has 380,000 ㎡ of floor space, gathers more than 2,000 top Chinese brands and 400+ European brands, and features over 3,000 lifestyle space mock-ups and 22 themed exhibition zones. It receives over 4 million visitors from 155 countries and regions annually and was rated a national 4A tourist attraction in 2012; nearly 40% of the group’s transaction value comes from export orders. Sunlink Home Furnishing’s Sunlink International Home Furnishing Procurement Fair has run for 37 editions; the August 2024 edition drew over 1,000 exhibiting brands and an estimated 200,000 visitors, covering sofa and upholstery, healthy sleep, living-dining, rosewood, office and hotel project, outdoor, soft furnishing and full-case design. Dongheng Furniture Group operates nine malls along Lecong Furniture Avenue, focusing on customization, soft furnishing, art furniture, rosewood, light luxury and office furniture; Royal International Procurement City is the exhibition and sales window of the Royal Group.
Lecong’s moat is trade and exhibition, not factory floors. The town has Helo Port and Yanming Wharf, with annual throughput of about 13 million tonnes, 30 minutes to downtown Guangzhou and one-hour coverage of the Pearl River Delta. On 22 July 2024, Tuanyi International Furniture City launched “1039” market procurement trade, with a single customs declaration capped at 150,000 USD; the first shipment of furniture went via Nansha Port to Saudi Arabia. This “multi-category, multi-batch, small-volume” clearance model suits overseas small and medium buyers consolidating mixed containers. The town has also turned its malls into a destination: the Louvre Sofitel hotel, the 4A scenic area, design buyers and livestream e-commerce together turn “shopping for furniture” into “staying over to choose furniture”.
Lecong’s buyer map is broad — Middle East, Southeast Asia, Europe, the US, Africa and Russia all see Lecong goods. For overseas buyers, it is a place to see a full year of trend styles in one day. Hotel projects, real-estate fit-outs, office procurement, supermarkets and e-commerce sellers, and designer buyers can all find matching booths. Most market merchants are traders or factory-direct showrooms and can handle OEM/ODM: resizing, fabric changes, color adjustments, logo addition and custom packaging, with merchants coordinating with factories in Longjiang, Jiujiang and other Foshan towns for sampling and production scheduling. Sourcing tips: distinguish “showroom visits” from “factory audits” — showrooms are in Lecong while production lines are often in surrounding towns, so factory audits, sample confirmation and pre-shipment inspection should be written into contracts. Wooden furniture exported to the EU must address EUDR/FSC and formaldehyde emissions, while the US requires CARB P2/EPA TSCA Title VI; office furniture can reference BIFMA, and upholstered furniture also needs flame-retardant and REACH compliance. Small-value, multi-category orders can use 1039 with each declaration kept under 150,000 USD. Lecong is not the cheapest manufacturing base, but it may be the easiest place to “buy everything in one trip”; before ordering, align showroom samples with factory mass-production capability. Visiting during the Sunlink procurement fair or furniture exhibitions — viewing halls by day and factories by night — is the best way to settle price, lead time and inspection standards in one go.
